The Crazies (2010)
here’s my attempt at a movie review.
*SPOLIER ALERT*
I do talk about some of the plot elements, so if you were planing on seeing the movie, i suggest you do not read this.
first off, what i like about the movie is the placement of height of suspension.
what i mean to say is that the scenes in the movie with the most suspenseful tension, were appropriately placed. They had just enough so it wasn’t obnoxiously suspenseful, but at the same time did enough so it left you wanting more.
The storyline is not that original, but i do admit a creative twist on a story told many times before. They did leave some questions unanswered, like;
how did the main character get back to the sheriff’s station from the gas station many many miles away?
how did the main character get in contact with infected water, air, AND blood and still not get infected?
Subtle details, but still kept me wondering.
I’d say best male actor goes to russell the deputy.
female, to the main character’s wife.
I would say that they portrayed their parts very well, especially near the end when russell starts going a little “crazy”.
The main character’s acting was my only real problem with the film
He did an alright job, enough to get the job done, but nothing to write home about.
All in all I would give this movie a B+ and I would definitely reccomend it to those who have yet to see it.

ON A SIDE NOTE -
I find watching suspenseful thrillers like this, atmosphere is important.
I watched this movie alone, in the dark of my room, at 2 in the morning. So I got a lot of the effect of the movie.
Whereas if i were to watch this with a bunch of my friends, in the middle of the day, while everyone had side conversations, this movie hands down would of sucked.
I remember watching Dead Silence, a suspenseful thriller of sorts.
I watched it, in an empty church, late at night, in a large empty room, with only 4 other guys, on the big screen.
Now we all sat in the front, and if we were to turn around, it would be so dark we couldn’t see where the wall ended, so needless to say it was a bit eerie.
Which, of course, set the PERFECT tone for the movie, we were scared sh*tless, my 20 year old friend was holding me and shaking. big college man he was, hahaha.
But thinking back on it, the movie wasn’t that fantastic, and I knew under any other circumstances that movie would’ve been subpar, to say the least.
so atmosphere when watching a movie, is very very important (well at least I think so).

well there it is, my review in a nutshell
